Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar’s nephew, said “we are a family” and encouraged his uncle to reconsider his decision to retire as the national president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) shortly after his uncle made the announcement.
During the celebration for the release of the second edition of his autobiography Lok Maze Sangati, Sharad Pawar unexpectedly announced his resignation. The news of his resignation coincides with rumours that his nephew Ajit Pawar will align himself with the BJP in Maharashtra.
Sharad Pawar would adhere by the NCP committee’s decision about the resignation, according to Ajit Pawar, who was present at the event where his uncle announced his resignation.
The members of the aforementioned committee, according to Ajit Pawar, “are not from outside and they are from within the NCP family itself.”
“We are all related. Saheb (Sharad Pawar) will follow the NCP committee’s decision about his resignation. The committee will be established unanimously. But kindly revoke your resignation. It’s a modest request,” stated Ajit Pawar.
“Don’t worry, they’re from the NCP family, be it myself or be it Supriya Sule,” he said.
