Weather Update: There is a chance of isolated areas of heavy rainfall across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mizoram, and Tripura. There is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms with lightning across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, as well as Kerala and Mahe. On November 18, there is a chance of strong winds with gusts up to 50 kmph over Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and south Assam.

Winds gusting to 50–60 kmph with a high probability of reaching 70 kmph over the Northeast and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal, along and off the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh; wind gusting to 40–45 kmph with a high probability of reaching 55 kmph over the North and adjoining central Bay of Bengal, along & off the north coast of Odisha. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.

Delhi to reach ‘severe plus’ category, odd-even rule coming soon

The city may soon have to impose an odd-even car restriction scheme as the state of the air quality in Delhi has gotten worse and is getting closer to the “severe plus” category. The air quality index for the city was 437. An AQI more than 450 is classified as “severe-plus”. The government may introduce odd-even car rationing if Delhi falls into the “severe plus” category. At 4 p.m. on Thursday, the AQI dropped from 419.
