Weather update: Delhi and its adjoining areas are expected to get some relief from soaring temperatures this weekend with light and moderate rainfall lashing the city. Private forecasting agency Skymet Weather said, “The national capital might receive light rains under the influence of Cyclone Biparjoy, which is gaining steam in the Arabian Sea.” Delhi might receive light rains and thundershowers with gusty winds on June 18 and 19. Meanwhile, some states in Bihar and Jharkhand will continue to reel under a heatwave for the next few days. 

Rainfall in Northeast India

Northeast India will receive light to heavy rainfall during the next five days, as per the weather department. Assam and Meghalaya will continue to receive rainfall till June 18. The sub-Himalayan region including West Bengal, Sikkim, Andaman, and Nicobar will also receive light to moderate rainfall, as predicted by the IMDB. 

Heatwave warning

Heatwave conditions are predicted in isolated areas over Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand for the next five days, according to iMD. Isolated pockets in East Uttar Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh will also feel the wrath of rising temperatures. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana along with Gangetic West Bengal are also expected to experience heatwave for the next few days. Humid conditions are also likely to prevail in Tamil Nadu during the next two days.
