Weather Update: According to the IMD, there is a high probability of dense to extremely dense fog conditions for many hours in the night or early morning across a large portion of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, and in certain areas for the next four days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert, indicating that over the next five days, dense to very dense fog conditions are likely to persist over North India, while over the next three days, cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely to persist over North India.

IMD foresees isolated pockets of dense to very dense fog over Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh; isolated pockets of dense fog over Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya; and isolated pockets of dense fog over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and remote areas of Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and West Rajasthan are likely to have chilly to extremely cold days. Isolated areas of East Rajasthan are probably experiencing cold weather today. Very probable, isolated areas of Punjab and Haryana will experience a cold wave to severe cold wave, while isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh will experience cold wave conditions. There’s a good chance that some areas of Uttarakhand will experience ground frost.
