Weather Update: Certain locations are experiencing worsening atmospheric conditions as winter draws to a close. Due to the heavy fog in many places, including our capital Delhi, numerous flights and trains have been cancelled. A strong easterly wind and the aforementioned low pressure area over the southeast Arabian Sea are expected to cause light to moderate rainfall in some areas over the next three to four days over south Tamil Nadu, south Kerala, and Lakshadweep, with isolated heavy rainfall over Lakshadweep from January 3 to 5, and over south Tamil Nadu and Kerala on January 4 and 5, 2024. There’s also a chance of isolated, extremely heavy rainfall over Lakshadweep on January 4, 2023. It is highly probable that there will be light, isolated rainfall in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from January 3–8, and in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha from January 3–05, 2024.

In isolated pockets over Haryana-Chandigarh in northwest Rajasthan, and in certain areas of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and northeast Rajasthan, dense to very dense fog is most likely to occur. Dense fog is found in certain areas of Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha.
