Weather Update: Warm and very dry conditions are expected to prevail in most parts of the country today with the Indian MtIndia Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a rise in maximum temperatures. IMD has issued a heatwave warning for Maharashtra on 17 May. In its latest bulletin, the weather bureau said, “temperature is likely to rise by 2-3°C over many parts of Maharashtra from 17th May.
During the next 5 days, the maximum temperatures could rise by 2-3°C over many parts of south India, as per the weather department. In Northwest India, a dust storm is very likely in isolated pockets over Rajasthan from 15-18th May. Meanwhile, in northeast India, the IMD has predicted hailstorms and rain showers.
Delhi
As per today’s predictions, the temperature in Delhi could go up to 41 degree celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 28 degrees. The predictions also suggest that clouds could prevail during the day but no rain showers are predicted in the national capital.
Mumbai
According to the IMD, the city will see a heatwave. The humidity levels will remain at 63%. The maximum temperature for the day will reach 33 degrees, while the minimum temperature will be 28 degrees.
Chennai
Chennai is currently sizzling with the temperature soaring. However, in a much-needed respite, it’s expected to be a cloudy day in the city today. The humidity levels are expected to remain at 84%. The maximum temperature is projected to reach 36 degrees, while the minimum temperature will be around 28 degrees.
Kolkata
Kolkata is predicted to have a cloudy day today. Rainfall is likely to lash the city from Thursday. Humidity will remain at 80% while the maximum temperature will be 37 degrees and the minimum will be 29 degrees.
