Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar may experience heatwave conditions in the upcoming days, indicating that certain regions of eastern India may witness high temperatures whereas rains are also predicted in some regions.
In the meantime, central and north peninsular India are experiencing maximum temperatures ranging from 40-42 degrees Celsius. This is considerably higher, by three to five degrees Celsius, than the normal range in the Western Himalayan Region, northeast India, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, as well as Kerala & Mahe.
The weather agency has forecasted rainfall in the west and northwestern parts of India in the next few days. According to the agency, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada are likely to experience light to moderate isolated rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning in the next five days. Similar weather conditions are anticipated to persist over north and northwest India.
Delhi
Friday is forecast to be clear and sunny in the national capital. Some clouds would be visible during the early morning hours but the day will become clearer later. Warmth and humidity will continue to create ruckus. The maximum temperature, for today, will be 39 degrees and the minimum will be 24 degrees.
Mumbai
As per the latest weather update, Mumbai and its suburbs will be mostly cloudy today as well. Some drizzle and isolated thunderstorms could be possible in one or other regions. The maximum temperature, for today, will be 35 degrees and the minimum will be 27 degrees.
Chennai
Chennai is predicted to remain sunny until the afternoon and partly overcast sky from the evening. No major change is likely as humidity will continue to be at similar levels. The maximum temperature, for today, will be 36 degrees and the minimum will be 28 degrees.
Kolkata
IMD has predicted that Kolkata will once again breach the 40-degree mark as the maximum temperature will be as high as 43 degrees. Sunny atmosphere and clear sky will continue throughout the day. Minimum temperature will be 28 degrees.
