Weather Update: As we approach the new year, the cold, fog, and snowfall are all getting worse. As of right now, we are in the middle of December, and winter is almost here—not quite, since we don’t know when it will get any colder. On December 14, there is a high probability of light to moderate rainfall in certain areas, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya. On December 14, there is a good chance of isolated hailstorms over Arunachal Pradesh.
Know about the Cyclonic disturbance
Dense fog is very likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, and north Uttar Pradesh on the 14th and 15th of December, as well as over Tripura on the 14th. Minimum temperatures are unlikely to change significantly over most of the country over the next 4-5 days. Squally weather with wind gusts up to 55 kmph (with a top speed of 40–45 kmph) is expected to dominate over the Comorin region and the neighbouring Maldives areas. It is advised that fishermen avoid these areas. The Arabian Sea’s cyclonic circulation, which stretches up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, continues to exist over the southwest and neighbouring southeast. Over Bangladesh, the cyclonic circulation continues to exist, reaching up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Beginning on December 16, 2023, a new disturbance in the west is predicted to impact the western Himalayan region.
