weather update

Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Saturday that Cyclone Biparjoy weakened on Friday and is anticipated to weaken even more into a “Depression” in the next six hours. As the cyclone’s effects last, meteorologists had predicted that Cyclone Biparjoy’s remnant might aid the monsoon’s march over east India, which is now experiencing a severe heat wave. The monsoon has been moving slowly due to the lack of any meteorological systems over the Bay of Bengal. According to them, “Cyclone Biparjoy also affected the southwest monsoon current.”

Gujarat

In Kutch, Banaskantha, Devbhoomo Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, and Patan, significant rainfall is predicted. These localities are under a red alert from the IMD, whereas Mehsana is under an orange alert.

In Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Morbi, heavy to very heavy rains are possible, according to MeT Director Manorama Mohanty’s statement on Friday. Porbandar and Rajkot may witness significant rains in numerous areas. Tomorrow, extremely heavy rain is anticipated in Kutch, Patan, Mehsana, and Banaskantha, which are important parts of the state.

Rajasthan

In Barmer and Jalore, the IMD has issued a red alert. In Sirohi, Pali, and Jodhpur, an orange alert was issued. On yellow alert are Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Dungapur, Chittorgarh, and Rajsamand.

Delhi

In Delhi, the IMD forecasted a cloudy sky for the duration of the day. The forecast called for gusty gusts (35–45 km) and very little rain throughout the day.

Heatwave alerts in Bihar and Bengal

Bihar

The IMD issued a red alert, anticipating high heat conditions in Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, and Buxar as sections of Bihar continue to experience an intense heat wave. In addition to other places, an orange alert has been issued in Patna, Nalanda, Nawada, Jamui, Begusarai, and Lakhisarai.

The Patna district magistrate issued a circular following the heatwave, affecting all academic activities up to Class 12 due to the heat wave. The directive is still in effect as of June 24.

Bengal

According to the IMD, heat waves are anticipated in a number of areas, including Malda, Murshidabad, Birbhum, Purulia, Bankura, Paschim Medinipur, Nadia, and Jhargram.
