Weather Update: In addition to severe rainfall predicted in several states in central, western and eastern India, the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in the northeastern states. According to the IMD’s weather forecast, there could be light to moderate rainfall throughout Uttarakhand, with the state capital, Dehradun, possibly receiving a light showers. It is expected to rain in Uttar Pradesh in patches, with mild to moderate amounts in the state capital, Lucknow.

The India Meteorological Department predicts significant rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, including in the state’s capital, Bhopal. Similar weather, including thunderstorms and lighting, is anticipated in Kolkata with moderate rainfall. The meteorological service has forecast a typically cloudy sky with a potential of light rain and thundershowers during the day for Delhi. The IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky with a chance of light rain for Mumbai and its surrounding areas.

According to IMD, there is a high probability of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in certain areas of Uttarakhand, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Goa. The India Meteorological Department reports that there has been considerable rainfall in certain areas of Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand. However the same has been predicted for other states of India including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana and Karnataka.
