Weather Update: Heavy Rains in Delhi and Mumbai, Check What’s in Store in Lucknow, Dehradun and Patna

Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department has expected heavy to very heavy rainfall for today, and as the monsoon intensifies across Maharashtra, Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar are on high alert. The weather service issued an ‘Orange’ notice for several districts of Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow, due to the expected severe rainfall. In Delhi-Northern Region, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast mild to moderate rainfall along with a few light thunderstorms and lightning. However Patna and Dehradun would have partly cloudy sky with the possibility of rainfall along with thundershowers.

According to the IMD, there will be likely some areas of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, with particularly heavy precipitation, over parts of Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The IMD reports that there has been significant to extremely heavy rainfall in certain areas of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. There has been severe rainfall in several areas of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Tamil Nadu, according to the India Meteorological Department.

The IMD has issued a warning for many districts in Maharashtra due to the heavy rainfall that is occurring in multiple areas of the state. Mumbai consequently saw extreme waterlogging in a number of areas of the city. The IMD predicts that Mumbai would see maximum and minimum temperatures of about 29 and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively. In Kolkata, Monday’s high and low temperatures are predicted to be at 32°C and 27°C, respectively.
