Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall alert for severe to extremely heavy rainfall at areas, including Delhi, which is expected to have light to moderate rainfall, as the monsoon continues to hammer sections of the nation. The weather department predicts that there will be likely light to moderate rain, along with brief thunderstorms and lightning, in a few locations in Delhi on Janmashtami. The IMD has forecasted comparable weather for the next 24 hours in a number of NCR regions. As per the IMD forecast, the capital city of Jharkhand, Ranchi is anticipated to have cloudy sky with the possibility of few spells of rainfall today.

The weather service has issued an advisory for heavy rain for some parts of Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours, including scattered rainfall for state’s capital city, Lucknow. In several locations around West Bengal, the IMD has issued an Orange Alert due to extremely significant rainfall including little showers in Kolkata. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, with the possibility of major falls in Bhopal, is expected over certain areas of Madhya Pradesh. With major alerts issued throughout the state, including Mumbai, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy rainfall is expected in several districts of Maharashtra. In addition, a Yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Mumbai.

According to IMD, there will be likely significant to extremely heavy rainfall in various areas of south Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The India Meteorological Department reports that Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Goa and Karnataka have seen heavy to extremely heavy rains in various areas. However, heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir. The same has been predicted for Bihar, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Karnataka, according to the IMD forecast.
