Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast stating that the severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy is expected to strengthen further over the next 24 hours. The storm is projected to move in a nearly north-northwestward direction over the next two days. As a precautionary measure, the IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the East Central, West Central, and South Arabian Sea until June 12th.
Over the next five days, there is a possibility of light to moderate scattered rainfall in North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, there is a high likelihood of moderate, fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in these regions during the same period.
Prevailing heatwave is expected to persist from today to June 13, 2023, with severe heatwave conditions anticipated during this period. Furthermore, there is a high probability of heatwave conditions occurring in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Ganga West Bengal from June 9 to June 11. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Odisha are also likely to experience heatwave conditions on June 9 and 10.
Delhi
The national capital is forecast to continue with its weather trends of heatwaves and sunny skies. No relief is likely in the region for the few upcoming days. For today, the maximum temperature will be 41 degrees while the minimum will be 30 degrees. Humidity will remain in the range of 32-35%.
Mumbai
The city and its suburbs will begin on a sunny and warmer note. However, the sky will turn partly overcast from the evening. Rains and thunderstorms will begin lashing the region from tomorrow onwards. For today, the maximum temperature will be 34 degrees while the minimum will be 29 degrees. Humidity will be at 74%.
Chennai
As per the latest forecast, Chennai will experience isolated thunderstorms in the morning. The sky will then remain cloudy till the evening. Rains and thunderstorms will lash the region once again the evening. The temperature, for today, will remain in the range of 37-29 while the humidity will be 75%.
Kolkata
Pleasant weather is on cards for Kolkata today. The sky will remain predominantly cloudy with winds blowing continuously. For today, the maximum temperature will be 36 degrees while the minimum will be 21 degrees. Humidity will be at 77%.
