Weather Update: Amidst the bitter cold gripping the northern states, Tuesday (January 24) saw a deluge of rain fall in multiple locations. This has only intensified the harsh winter conditions. Meanwhile, the hilly areas continue to see snowfall. The Meteorological Department predicts a chance of heavy snowfall and rain in the western Himalayan region, with rain also expected in the northwest Indian plains over the next 48 hours.
The Meteorological Department forecasts a chance of light rain accompanied by thunder in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh on January 25th. Additionally, some parts of Delhi may experience light rain and drizzle. Furthermore, some areas of Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh may also see hailstorms on the same day.
Delhi
As per the latest weather update, Delhi will remain partly overcast and experience moderate rainfall in patches. The mornings are predicted to be engulfed in shallow fog as well. The maximum temperature today will be 19 degrees and the minimum will be 12 degrees.
Mumbai
The city and its suburbs are predicted to remain sunny. Although, haze and humidity is also likely to be on the higher end. The maximum temperature for today will be 28 degrees and the minimum will be 21 degrees.
Chennai
The latest weather update for Chennai affirms that the city will be covered with partly cloudy skies. The temperature will remain consistent with the previous days, with a maximum of 29 degrees and a minimum of 24 degrees expected for today.

Kolkata
IMD predicts that Kolkata will continue to remain pleasant. No major change in weather is predicted for the city. For today, the maximum temperature will be 31 degrees while the minimum will be 19 degrees.

As far as temperature is concerned, North West India can expect a little variation in the minimum temperature until January 26th. However, a drop of 2-3°C is expected for the following two days, followed by a rise of 3-5°C over the next 48 hours. The rest of the country is likely to experience a more steady temperature over the next 4-5 days.
