Weather Update: According to the IMD, regions of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are expected to experience severe cold wave conditions through January 15. On January 16, however, cold wave conditions will continue in various areas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), minimum temperatures of 3 degrees Celsius were recorded in Narnaul (Haryana), Ayanagar (Delhi), and Kanpur (East Uttar Pradesh). The IMD also issued a warning, stating that over the course of the next three days, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are expected over the plains of northwest India; however, after that, things will get better.

IMD predicts dense to very dense fog in many parts of Uttar Pradesh; in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Dense fog in isolated pockets over north Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Severe cold day conditions are very likely in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, with isolated pockets of cold weather in Bihar. Severe cold wave conditions are very likely in some areas of Punjab and Haryana- Chandigarh-Delhi, as well as cold wave conditions in isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Ground frost is very likely in isolated pockets across Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana Chandigarh-Delhi, and north Rajasthan.
