Weather Update: According to the Meteorological Department, the western disturbance will resume its activity on February 15. In the state’s higher regions, such as Chamba and Lahaul Spiti, snowfall will begin. In the higher regions of the districts of Chamba, Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Shimla, Mandi, and Kangra, there is a possibility of significant snowfall and rain. In Shimla, the lowest temperature is 5.8 degrees Celsius, which is 2 degrees warmer than usual. In a few days, a western disturbance is expected to become active, which will cause the lowest temperature to return to normal while the maximum temperature will drop.

IMD forecasts that on February 15 and 16, isolated areas of Bihar and Jharkhand will most likely experience dense fog conditions in the morning; on February 15, 2024, dense fog conditions are expected to prevail over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha. There is a high probability of isolated thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and other weather phenomena across Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand; there are also isolated thunderstorms with lightning over East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Moisture is entering East Central and East India from the Bay of Bengal at lower tropospheric levels due to the anticyclone over the north Bay of Bengal.
