Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts indicating significant weather changes in the coming days across various regions of India. From January 28 onwards, a fresh Western disturbance is expected to affect the Western Himalayan region, bringing the possibility of rain and snow. Subsequently, another disturbance is forecasted from January 34, likely impacting the Western Himalayan region and nearby plains of Northwest India.
Snowfall and Rain Forecast
According to the IMD, areas including Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and some parts of Himachal Pradesh may experience snowfall, while rain is expected in certain regions over the next 3-4 days. Additionally, relief from severe cold is anticipated in the plains of the country, with a potential increase in minimum temperatures.
Temperature Changes
IMD suggests that minimum temperatures in central and eastern India, as well as many parts of Western India, may remain relatively stable over the next 2 days. However, a rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is likely in several regions of North-Western India over the next 3-5 days. The possibility of a cold wave in parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh has been indicated by the Meteorological Department.
Foggy Conditions
Dense fog is expected during mornings and nights in several parts of Uttar Pradesh, some areas of Punjab and Haryana, and various regions of Bihar. Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and some parts of North-East India may also experience dense fog in the morning. Additionally, light rain and snow are possible in some places in Uttarakhand, with snowfall likely in upper regions. Rajasthan, particularly, may continue to experience a cold wave and dense fog.
Current Weather Conditions in Rajasthan
Presently, Rajasthan is under the grip of a severe cold wave, with many areas witnessing dense fog. In Sangaria, Hanumangarh, the minimum temperature was recorded at 3.4 degrees Celsius. The weather remained dry in the state over the past twenty-four hours, with dense and extremely dense fog observed in many places. Several areas in Western Rajasthan were categorized as experiencing ‘cold’ to ‘severe cold days.’ Notably, Sangaria recorded a minimum temperature of 3.4 degrees, Sri Ganganagar 4.4 degrees, Alwar 5.0 degrees, Sirohi 6.4 degrees, and Banswara 6.7 degrees Celsius. The capital city Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius.
