Weather Update: According to IMD, a cold wave with significant snowfall has stricken northern states like Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab. On March 7, the Meteorological Department forecast an increase in precipitation and snowfall in the western Himalayas. Furthermore, cyclonic winds are developing in Punjab, and an active belt is moving towards Chhattisgarh. This begs the question of how these winds may affect the general weather. While Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala, and Odisha are expected to get light showers, Arunachal Pradesh is expected to see rain and snow. The IMD said that Delhi, the nation’s capital, will likely see mostly cloudy skies during the day and that the highest temperature would likely drop to about 23 degrees Celsius.

According to IMD, the cyclonic circulation that is 3.1 km above mean sea level across northwest Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring Haryana is expected to continue. At 0.9 km above mean sea level, the trough that crosses Interior Karnataka from South Tamil Nadu to East Vidarbha still exists. Over south Odisha and the surrounding area, the cyclonic circulation continues at 1.5 km above mean sea level. Over east Assam and the surrounding area, the cyclonic circulation continues at 1.5 km above mean sea level. The Western Himalayan Region may be impacted by a recent disturbance to the west. It is anticipated to cause isolated to dispersed light to moderate rainfall and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh’s Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad, as well as isolated precipitation and snowfall in Uttarakhand.
