Weather Update: The Meteorological Department states that although there will be western disturbances throughout the nation, those originating from Afghanistan would primarily affect western Central part of Uttar Pradesh i.e, Lucknow. The moist winds from the two oceans will significantly intensify the western disturbance in such a scenario. Numerous districts may get intense rains as a result of this. Beginning in the evening, Lucknow and the adjacent areas will be affected by the western disturbance. The Meteorological Department says that there’s a probability of rain and thunderstorms in Chhattisgarh today. A rain alert is also in effect for Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Nagaland on February 17.

According to IMD, several locations are under a lightning and storm warning. In addition, on February 17, hail is expected to fall in Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh. There is a high probability of isolated thunderstorms with lightning over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam & Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh. Extremely likely to be isolated pockets of dense fog across West Bengal and Sikkim in the Sub-Himalayan region. Winds between 45 and 55 kmph with gusts up to 65 kmph are expected to be squally over the Gulf of Mannar and the nearby Comorin Area. It is advised that fishermen avoid these regions.
