Weather Update: The most recent weather advisory predicts cloudy skies in Delhi and light to moderate rainfall in West and Central India today. Based on the most recent five-day projection from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Thane is under an orange alert, while Mumbai is projected to see heavy to very heavy rains, prompting the IMD to issue a red alert for many areas. The most recent forecast states that a depression has formed over Gangetic West Bengal, causing heavy rainfall. It can be followed by thunderstorms and lightning in the state. According to IMD, there may be some rain in Kolkata, the state capital, today. With the probability of light to moderate rain in Delhi, the IMD has also issued a yellow weather alert for rain in the city.

According to IMD, Jharkhand is anticipated to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, with the state capital, Ranchi, experiencing scattered showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding extremely heavy rainfall in a few areas of Bihar, with an expectations of few light showers in the capital city, Patna. For West Madhya Pradesh, where severe to extremely heavy rainfall is predicted, the IMD has issued a red alert. The state capital Bhopal may also experience a period of heavy rainfall. By the end of the month, isolated to scattered light rains are expected as the monsoon trough, which is now south of Delhi NCR, is expected to move back towards the city. As per the IMD forecast, Lucknow is predicted to have cloudy sky with the possibility of few spells of rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department predicts that there will be likely heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several areas of Gujarat, with exceptionally severe precipitation. However, IMD forecasts heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several areas across Goa and Rajasthan in Maharashtra and Karnataka. There have been reports of heavy rainfall in several areas of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand. However, the same has been predicted for Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Karnataka, according to the India Meteorological Department.
