Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department predicts that Chennai’s skies will be partly cloudy for the next 48 hours, with mild to moderate rain and thunderstorms probable in some areas of the city. With significant rainfall expected in isolated areas, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Palghar. In the meantime, Ahmedabad is expected to have mostly cloudy skies, moderate rain, and temperatures that will likely vary from a low of 26 degrees Celsius to a high of 30 degrees Celsius, according to the weather office.

The Weather Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall across many parts of Bihar and Jharkhand, including the state capitals Patna and Ranchi, respectively. There is a same prediction for Lucknow. The department has also issued a warning of heavy showers and thunderstorms over some districts of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal and Ujjain. In addition, rain is predicted to fall throughout the day in Delhi. However, a yellow alert warning has been issued for the next three days, and the temperature is predicted to remain in the range of 26 to 25 degrees Celsius. Moreover strong surface winds, thunderstorms, and a typically cloudy sky with very light rain have all been predicted by the IMD.

According to IMD, there is a high probability of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several areas of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya. As per the IMD, there has been intense precipitation in certain areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu.
