On Friday, statements in the case involving WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by numerous female wrestlers, began to be recorded.
The statement of Brij Bhushan was recorded in response to the wrestlers’ complaint, and the delivery of specific documents was also required. The 66-year-old refuted the charges that were brought against him.
The Delhi Police announced on Friday that a Special Investigation Team made up of 10 individuals had been created under the direction of a female DCP. The SIT unit consists of six police officers, including four female police officers.
Statements made by Assistant Secretary WFI Vinod Tomar, who is named as the accused in the Delhi Police’s FIR, were also recorded.
In his clarification, Brij Bhushan requested for the acquisition of some video proof and mobile data.
Teams from the Delhi Police visited Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Haryana to gather information regarding the wrestler’s complaint. Even when allegations are made abroad, the officers from the capital city’s protection section stay in contact with the relevant organisations.
The Delhi Police added that future questioning will involve Brij Bhushan’s father as well.
According to Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) Section 164, the Delhi Police had asked the Rouse Avenue Court to record the statements of the other wrestlers who had accused the head of the Wrestling Federation of India of the crimes.
