Wrestlers protest: Wrestler’s Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Sunday agreed to undergo a narco test or polygraphy or a lie detector test. His statement comes amid sexual harassment allegations leveled against him by boxers, including a minor. However, he has laid a condition against undergoing the test, emphasizing that wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat will also have to undergo it.
Ready to undergo narco test
Brij Bhushan Singh in a Facebook post said that he is ready to undergo a narco test if both the wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat are also ready to get their test done.
Taking to Facebook, Brij Bhushan wrote, “If both the wrestlers (Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat) are ready to get their test done, then I will call the press and announce. I promise them that I am also ready if they are.”
For the unversed, both Punia and Phogat have been protesting against Brij Bhushan over alleged sexual harassment allegations against him by women grapplers.
This is not the first time Brij Bhushan has released a statement in his defense. Earlier on May 7, the WFI chief, who also happens to be a BJP Leader, said that he would hang himself if even a single allegation against him was proven.
I still stand by my words and promise the countrymen to remain firm forever,” he further wrote on Facebook.”Except these wrestlers (who are protesting), ask anyone if I have done anything wrong. I have given 11 years of my life to wrestling, to this country,” the WFI chief had said.
FIR against Brij Bhushan Singh
After the direction of the Supreme Court, the Delhi Police filed two FIRs against Brij Bhushan Singh.
“The first FIR has been registered under the POCSO Act along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It was filed based on the allegations of a minor. The second FIR was registered for a comprehensive investigation into the complaints by other complainants under relevant sections pertaining to outraging of modesty,” the Delhi Police said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the wrestlers have been calling for Singh’s “immediate arrest” since one of the complainants is a minor. They have been protesting at Jantar Mantar since April 23.
