Himachal Pradesh Government’s Proactive Move
The Himachal Pradesh government of Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has raised the DA by 4%. The hike will take effect in July 2022. As a result, state employees’ allowance is now 38% higher. In addition, starting in July 2022, state employees would get an additional dearness allowance in arrears. This implies that in addition to their March income, the employees will receive an allowance for a total of 21 months.
Transforming Employee Benefits from 42% to 46%
The Gujarat government had previously gifted its staff members and retirees with Dearness Allowance (DA). The Gujarati government stated last Thursday that the DA would increase by 4%. The DA for government employees in Gujarat will rise from 42% to 46% as a result of this hike. The higher DA will take effect on July 1, 2023.
This implies that the arrears for the previous eight months will be paid to state employees. About 4.45 lakh state government employees and 4.63 lakh pensioners will gain from the move to raise DA. State employees will still be required to contribute 10% of their salaries into the National Pension System (NPS), but the government has also chosen to boost its contribution from 10% to 14%.
