Air India Express: At least 25 members of the cabin crew have been let go by Air India Express after hundreds of workers reported sick, causing flight delays. The airline intends to run 283 flights on Thursday after cancelling 85 flights.
Allegations of Unprofessional Behavior
The airline’s insiders claim that because of their unprofessional behavior and inability to accommodate passengers, cabin crew members who took sick leave between Tuesday and Wednesday were fired by management.
An Air India Express spokesperson stated, “While we will continue to engage with our cabin crew colleagues to address any concerns, we are taking appropriate steps against certain individuals as their actions have caused grave inconvenience to thousands of our guests.”
Flight Operations Update
A town hall meeting has been scheduled by the company for this Thursday at 2:00 PM. Air India will provide support on 20 routes for the airline’s planned 283 flights. Still, 85 flights are canceled, so travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flight before leaving for the airport.
CEO Aloke Singh said, “Air India Express is making every possible effort to minimise the inconvenience caused to our guests by this unexpected situation. We will be operating 283 flights today. We have mobilised all resources and Air India will support us by operating on 20 of our routes. However, 85 of our flights stand cancelled and we urge our guests booked to fly with us to check if their flight is affected by the disruption before heading to the airport.”
