Air India

Air India is about to introduce its brand-new Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which will improve the traveller experience on its twice-daily flights between Delhi and London Heathrow. The flagship aircraft of Air India will make its long-haul international debut on this route starting on September 1, 2024. On 14 of the 17 weekly flights, the A350-900 will take the place of the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, bringing 336 extra seats to the Delhi–London Heathrow route each week.

Introduction of Airbus A350-900

Air India will have upgraded 90% of its flights to London Heathrow with the arrival of the A350-900. First Class service has been reinstated on the Mumbai-London Heathrow route by the airline starting in April 2024, when it began operating newly delivered Boeing 777-300ERs with improved cabin interiors. As a result, Air India is the only airline operating between the UK and India that offers First Class.

Introduction of Premium Economy Class on Delhi–London Heathrow Route

On the Delhi–London Heathrow route, Air India will introduce Premium Economy class for the first time. This upgraded cabin will have 24 wide seats arranged in a 2-4-2 layout. The improved chinaware, tableware, glassware, bedding, and amenity kits for Business and Premium Economy passengers—designed by Ferragamo and TUMI, respectively—that were unveiled earlier this year will also be on display on the A350 flights.

Campbell Wilson, Air India’s CEO & Managing Director, stated, “Deploying our flagship A350s and upgraded B777s to London Heathrow signifies our commitment to offering a world-class travel experience. We aim to exceed customer expectations as we renew our fleet.”
