Balika Samriddhi Yojana: As we celebrate Women’s Day tomorrow, let’s shine a light on Balika Samriddhi Yojana (BSY), a crucial initiative empowering girls from underprivileged families. Launched in 1993, this government scheme aims to uplift girls by supporting their education and well-being.
Financial Assistance and Scholarships
Upon the birth of a daughter in a BPL family, the scheme offers an initial financial aid of Rs 500. Subsequently, annual scholarships are provided to support the girl’s education journey. Students from classes I to III receive Rs. 300 per year for each class, while those from classes 5 to 10 are granted escalating amounts of Rs. 600, Rs. 700, Rs. 800, and Rs. 1000 per year respectively.
Eligibility and Application Process
To avail the benefits of Balika Samridhi Yojana, certain eligibility criteria must be met. Only permanent residents of India from BPL families are eligible, and the scheme applies to girls born on or after August 15, 1997. Additionally, only two girls per family can benefit from this program.
The application process for Balika Samridhi Yojana is accessible both online and offline. Interested individuals can obtain application forms from Anganwadi workers or health service centers. Urban residents can approach their nearest health functionary for the requisite forms.
