Indian Railways: Traveling across India just got easier! The Indian Railways Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) app allows you to book train tickets for non-suburban journeys (beyond 200 kilometers) up to three days in advance, right from your phone.
Here’s how to use the UTS app to book your train tickets:
1. Download the UTS App and Register
First things first, download the UTS app and create an account. Once you’ve registered, you can log in and explore the app’s features.
2. Choose Between Paperless or Paper Tickets
The UTS app offers two booking options: paperless and paper tickets.
- Paperless: This is the convenient option for those on the go. You can purchase your ticket entirely online and display it on your phone during travel. Remember to turn on your GPS for paperless bookings!
- Paper: Prefer a physical ticket? This option allows you to book your ticket online and then print it out at a UTS kiosk or railway station counter.
3. Book Your Ticket
- Select your journey details, including the departure and arrival stations.
- Click on “Get Fare” to see the ticket price.
- If you want to check train timings, choose the “Next Trains” option.
- Pick your preferred travel class and payment method (R Wallet or online payment options like debit card, UPI, internet banking, or credit card).
- Confirm your booking details and click “Book Ticket.”
- For paperless tickets, your ticket will be available on the app after successful payment.
- For paper tickets, head to the nearest UTS kiosk or railway counter to print your ticket.
Important Reminders
- For paperless bookings, ensure your phone’s GPS is turned on to high accuracy mode.
- Topping up your R Wallet is optional, as the app accepts various online payment methods.
- Paper tickets can only be booked for the same day of travel for journeys up to 200 kilometers.
