Post Office Franchise Scheme: India Post is dedicated to carrying out its duty of providing universal service for all postal facilities throughout the nation. India boasts the world’s largest postal network, with over 1.55 lakh post offices.
Addressing the Demand for Post Offices
There is still a need for post offices even though 89% of these are located in rural areas. Customers are always asking for more post offices to be opened, and this demand is particularly strong in recently developed cities. A new franchise programme to establish post office franchise shops is being introduced on February 1, 2024, in response to this demand.
Will franchise locations offer these services?
- Reservation for E-Money Orders, Non-COD (Documents and Parcels), Inland Registered Letters, and Inland Speed Post
- Postage stamps and stationery for sale
- retail services, such as the selling of stamps for the Central Recruitment Fee and revenue, among others.
- serving as a direct agent for postal life insurance products and offering associated post-purchase services, such as premium collection.
How can I get a franchise?
Franchise applicants are required to submit their applications in the designated format. Franchises can be opened by anyone over the age of 18, as well as businesses, organisations, and other businesses such as corner stores, stationery stores, small merchants, and paanwalas and kiranawalas. However, there is no upper age limit because it is important to choose people who can manage and market the items. An agreement will be made between the person or organisation and India Post.
A deposit of ten thousand rupees is required
Passed the tenth grade at an accredited institution. An individual with a valid PAN number, computer literacy, working understanding of smartphones, and proficiency in both the local language and English is eligible to apply to become a franchisee. Only Rs 10,000 will need to be deposited by the applicant as a security deposit at the post office.
Paying the franchisee a commission?
In this approach, franchisees will receive commission. Each registered letter costs Rs 3.00, each money order above Rs 200 costs Rs 5.00, and there is a 5% charge on the sale of stationery and postal stamps. The franchisee will receive a profit ranging from 7% to 25% of the monthly business they handle, with an extremely attractive commission rate for booked fast post products.
