Electric cars: In the world of electric cars, range anxiety is still a big deal. Even though more and more new models are coming out with ranges of 300 to 400 miles or more, some potential buyers are still worried about where they can charge their cars and how long it will take to fill them up.
This is especially true in places with cold weather, where temperatures as low as 40 degrees can affect how much energy a battery pack can hold and deliver.
Now that Ford has releaswd a guide, you can learn some useful tips
Automakers have come up with a number of ways to deal with this problem, such as pre-conditioning the battery packs so they don’t get too cold while the car is parked and giving drivers different methods for driving that save energy.
Ford has released a tip guide for F-150 Lightning electric pickup customers on how to maximize range in cold weather, when all-wheel-drive may be both useful and fun.
The F-150 Lightning comes in different models with ranges ranging from 230 to 320 miles per charge.

Tests in Michigan and Alaska at -40 degrees led to the suggestions
- Park it inside as much as possible to keep it from getting too hot or cold.
- Leave the car plugged in. This way, it can use the power from the house to keep its temperature steady without draining the battery.
- If you’re going on a long trip, use the pre-conditioning feature.
- If you want to stay warm, use the heated seats and steering wheel instead of the climate control system. They use less energy.
- Turn off or turn down the car’s heater while it’s being charged.
- Remove snow from the car to reduce aerodynamic drag, which can have a big effect on how well the car works.
- Drive more slowly when it’s cold outside.
- Make sure the tyres are at the right pressure.
