Elon Musk Raises Red Flag for Kids Addicted to Smartphones, Says Protect Kids from Social Media’s AI-Driven Dopamine Trap!

Elon Musk's Warning on Social Media's Impact on Children and the Influence of AI Algorithms

Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the owner of X, expressed his worries about the negative impacts of social media on kids in a recent statement posted on his social media site X (previously Twitter). Musk emphasised that young people are especially vulnerable to complex AI systems that are designed to increase dopamine levels in an effort to maximise user engagement.

The Dopamine Maximisation Issue

On Thursday, Elon Musk used X to warn parents about the possible risks associated with their children using social media too much. He clarified that artificial intelligence algorithms that optimise dopamine levels are a result of the fierce rivalry between social media sites to increase user engagement. Musk claims that kids are harmed by this.

“A lot of social media is bad for kids, as there is extreme competition between social media AIs to maximize dopamine!” Musk wrote. He advised parents to set screen time limits for their kids, pointing out that these AI-powered platforms effectively programme kids by constantly activating their dopamine receptors.

Users React to Musk’s Warning

Users who matched Musk’s worries responded to his tweet in a big way. One person wrote, “I’d argue children shouldn’t be on these apps. Parents who don’t want to deal with their children just give them an iPad or an iPhone so they will stay quiet. Totally against this. Kids need social interaction, and it’s lacking post-Covid.” Another individual stated, “They use AI as a means of controlling people, analysing their preferences and then controlling their thoughts and actions based on their habits.”

Musk’s Ongoing Critique of Social Media Platforms

Elon Musk has previously expressed disapproval of social networking sites. He has been especially outspoken about the problems with Meta’s Instagram and Facebook, alleging that their platforms encourage child abuse. Musk, on the other hand, asserts that his platform X is dedicated to getting rid of anything that involves child abuse, even in the face of controversy like the reactivation of an account that was once used to share exploitative content.
