Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of companies –SpaceX and Tesla, has ascended to the second position in world rich list ranking.
Musk, who had beaten Mark Zuckerberg to secure third position, has now bounced ahead of Bill Gates to grab the second position in world’s richest list.
According to Business Insider, Musk’s net worth rose more than $7.2 billion on November 23 after Tesla’s share price surged. As of now, Elon has a net worth of $127.9 billion.
Out of his total worth, Musk has added over $100.3 billion in the year 2020 alone. In January 2020, Musk ranked 35th in the world richest list, but Tesla’s unpredicted soaring high share price has lead him to achieve the second position, leaving other billionaires behind.
The recent growth in Musk’s fortune has come after electric car makers market cap neared $500 billion on Monday.
On the other hand, SpaceX expanded their operations with more than two successful missions with NASA and transported astronauts from Earth to the International Space Station.
Meanwhile, this is second time that Microsoft founder Bill Gates has ranked lower than number two in Bloomberg Billionaire Index.
Gates, who was dethroned by Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos from the top position in 2017, has a current net worth of $127.7 billion. It is notable that had he not been involved in charities over the years, he would still have been on the top of the list.
Reportedly, Gates has donated more than $27 billion to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, since 2006.
Elon Musk and Bill Gates have been engaged in numerous verbal spat in the past. Recently, Gates had slammed the Tesla chief for his remarks on Covid-19 Pandemic.
