EPFO News: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has added three months to the deadline for submitting salary information for increased pension. Employers may now ‘upload’ these records through December 31, 2023. The Labour Ministry announced that it had extended the deadline for reporting pay information after receiving proposals from employers and employer organisations.
How the Central Board of Trustees’ Chairman Authorized the Extension
The original deadline was set to expire on September 30. According to the ministry, the Central Board of Trustees’ Chairman has approved extending the deadline for companies to submit pay information, among other things, until December 31, 2023. Pensioners and members have submitted 17.49 lakh applications for joint options and option verification as of July 11, 2023. Following the ruling of the Supreme Court from November 4, 2022, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation had earlier launched an online facility for submitting applications for verification of choice/joint option for pension at higher income.
The 15-Day Opportunity for Qualifying Pensioners/Members to Resolve Issues
The Labour Ministry has stated that this facility for pensioners and members began operations on February 26, 2023. In accordance with this, the application deadline was May 3, 2023. However, the deadline for filing applications for increased pensions was eventually extended to June 26, 2023 after taking the employees’ request into consideration. The qualifying pensioners/members were given a final window of 15 days to resolve whatever issues they were having. According to this, the deadline for submitting applications for the employees’ joint or option verification was extended until July 11, 2023.
