FASTag Updates: From August 1, new FASTag rules, issued to regularize toll payments and ease congestion at toll booths in the country, bring with them many important changes for FASTag users issued by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Mandatory KYC for FASTags
One of the major updates of this release is the KYC being made compulsory for FASTags. Every customer is liable to fill out their KYC within the given period so as to be aligned with the change in NPCI guidelines. The requirements are very specific, for example: replacement of 5-year-old FASTags, because any FASTag over five years old is to be replaced so as to ensure continued functionality working on the new standards.
Here Is The Process
KYC Update for 3-Year-Old FASTags: KYC details for users with FASTags issued three years ago need to be updated and brought in line with the new regime.
Link Vehicle Details: It will be required to link its vehicle registration number and chassis number with their FASTag account, making the verification process easier.
New Vehicle Registration Update: In the condition of a new vehicle purchase, the registration number of the new vehicle shall be provided within 90 days from the date of purchase to avoid the incorrect toll collection regarding that vehicle.
Database verification: The FASTag provider should update and verify his/her database so that toll transactions are perfect.
Upload of Photos: Clear photos of the front and side of the car are to be uploaded for proper identification and processing.
Linking of Mobile Number: Each FASTag should be linked with a mobile number for proper communication.
Enhancing FASTag System for Better Efficiency
These are part of NPCI’s extended measure to enhance the FASTag system to be more effective, with an even better user experience. As a result of this guideline, FASTag users will be in the position to see to it that toll transactions happen with the least interruption ever, hence helping minimize congestion and making road travel more convenient.
