Electric Vehicles: All around the world, including India, the demand for electric vehicles is rising quickly. Due to this, every automaker is working to release a variety of models in the market at various pricing points. Some high-end automakers are selling their electric vehicles in India. Although such EV vehicles are environmentally beneficial, but they also have significant drawbacks, which you should be fully aware of before purchasing one. Some of the notable demerits are below.
Short battery life of Electric Vehicles
The typical gasoline vehicle readily covers four or five hundred miles on a single tank of fuel. A diesel vehicle may travel more like 700 miles. On the other hand, all EVs may not capable of ranging long distance in single charge like Electric Peugeot e-208 which requires recharging every 217 miles.
Electric Vehicles are comparatively more expensive
EVs are more expensive to buy upfront than gasoline or diesel cars, making them an expensive option for the first few years. But by saving on fuel costs, this can be made up in a few years.
Poor charging infrastructure
In many industrialized nations, electric vehicle are quite popular because of a robust infrastructure for charging them. However, India now suffers from a severe shortage of infrastructure for electric vehicle charging. Only a few major cities in the nation now have public EV charging stations, and even in those places, the number of outlets is insufficient.
Environmental Effects
Even though electric vehicles have no emissions, the way that electricity is generated directly affects how green they actually are. The production of the lithium-ion battery pack is also more damaging to the environment than the production of a typical gasoline-powered car.
