IIT BHU: At IIT-BHU, hundreds of students are demonstrating in response to reports that three anonymous men kissed and undressed a female student on campus. The three males on bikes captured the incident on camera, and it happened close to the student residence.

Student Protests Erupt

Students staging protests are calling for the exclusion of outsiders from campus, citing their involvement in the incident as proof. They have also advocated for the construction of a wall dividing the campus of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Following a discussion with student representatives, the institute announced that it will take the Ministry of Education up on the idea of a closed campus.

BHU’s Proactive Pursuit

“The institute shall actively pursue with the Ministry of Education and the University administration for the creation of a closed campus with restricted entry,” the BHU Registrar said in a statement. Additionally, the registrar announced that additional CCTVs will soon be placed on campus and that security has been reinforced. According to the institute, there will be limitations on student movement from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Alleged Assault and Kidnapping

The woman filed a complaint alleging that on Wednesday night, while out with a friend, she was attacked. They were close to the Karman Baba temple when three men on a motorbike pulled up, separated her from her buddy, and brought her against her will to a corner, where they gagged her. After stripping the victim, the accused recorded a video of her and took pictures of her. The lawsuit said that after fifteen minutes, they let her go and grabbed her phone number. To maintain safety on campus, police stated that in addition to conducting an investigation, they are collaborating with the university administration.
