Hero MotoCorp: India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, is finally entering the country’s rapidly rising electric vehicle sector. Vida, the company’s new or “emerging” mobility brand, will introduce its first-ever electric scooter offering in two varieties on Friday at its Global Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur.

The Vida V1 scooter will be available in two performance and range models, the Vida V1 Plus and Vida V1 Pro. Prices for the two models are likely to change depending on range, as the OEM follows a well-known industry approach of offering two price versions – an economical and a premium version – in order to entice buyers to the still-nascent EV market.
Hero has pushed back the scooter’s debut date twice before announcing in July
As it was aiming for a holiday season release. The delay was related to the continuous lack of semi-conductors.
The two scooters will be qualified for the government’s FAME-II subsidy plan, which provides clients with an upfront cash discount when they purchase an approved EV.
The Vida V1 electric scooter from Hero MotoCorp will compete with rivals TVS Motor Company’s iQube and Bajaj Auto’s Chetak EV, as well as electric vehicle startups Ather Energy’s Ather 450X and Ola Electric’s Ola S1.

Now, the company is positioning its Vida brand as India’s “not first” electric scooter, capitalising on competitors and recent concerns raised about the safety and robustness of India’s electric two-wheelers at a time when manufacturers are rushing to market, often at the expense of adequate testing and validation.
“We put the VIDA through its paces for almost 200,000 kilometres, including high heat conditions. With a scooter sturdy enough to endure the most difficult terrain, more people can go green “, according to a tweet from the brand’s official Twitter account. It further stated that the scooter took 25,000 hours to create.
