Hyderabad Ladies, be Aware ! 50-year old woman gets rare Beauty Parlour stroke Know details here

Hyderabad: A recent visit to the salon nearly ended in death for a 50-year-old Hyderabad woman who had a stroke while having her hair cleaned before getting a haircut. She was being treated by doctors who claimed that as she bent her neck back for the wash, a critical blood vessel supplying the brain was compressed, resulting in the stroke.

According to city doctors, similar cases are frequent among men visiting salons for a neck massage. In fact, such health scares, which are frequently referred to as the “beauty parlour stroke syndrome” after it was first reported in the US in 1993, have also been reported in the past.

A prominent neurologist, Dr. Praveen Kumar had said, “It happens when the masseur presses down on the neck and head hard, at times even twists the neck to produce a cracking sound. This leads to tender vessels getting injured, leading to a stroke.”

In addition to other things, nausea, vomiting, and lightheadedness are among the typical symptoms. The 50-year-old woman first went to a gastroenterologist because she had these symptoms and physical imbalances. When the physician discovered no stomach problems, he recommended that she see a neurologist.

But she had a slanted gait and was weak which made us suspect it was a stroke and we asked for an MRI.
