IIT Kharagpur: Calcutta High Court’s Order Second Autopsy After Six Months Of Death

Delhi murder

The Calcutta High Court has ordered a re-postmortem on the body of Faizan Ahmed, a student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. The Calcutta High Court has said in its order that the dead body should be taken out of the grave and brought to Kolkata and its post-mortem should be done. Faizan Ahmed’s body was found on October 14 last year from a hostel room of the institute.

The college administration called it a case of suicide. But Ahmed’s family alleges that he was murdered. Yesterday, the Calcutta High Court said that a second post-mortem was “important and necessary to reach the truth”.

Justice Rajasekhar Mantha said, “The body of the victim has been buried as per Muslim rituals in Assam. The body of the victim Faizan Ahmed is ordered to be exhumed.” The investigating officer in the case will coordinate with the Assam Police and ensure that the body or remains are exhumed, brought to Kolkata by the State Police and a fresh post-mortem is conducted.”

The court referred to the key findings noted by Sandeep Bhattacharya, amicus curiae in the matter. The court said that two injury marks were found on the back of the victim’s head. The marks have been confirmed by Sandeep Kumar Bhattacharya, Lt. Amicus Curae. This is not mentioned in the original post mortem report.

The police had found a chemical called Emplura (Sodium Nitrate) from the crime scene. “

According to Bhattacharya, sodium nitrate is a yellow colored powder, which is commonly used to preserve meat,” the court said.
