Please take note that taxpayer services on the e-filing site will continue to be restricted as a result of maintenance associated with technical system upgrades, according to a statement released by the Income Tax Department on social media platform (X). Please keep this in mind when creating your action plan.

Temporary Portal Restriction

Taxpayers should refrain from using the portal or completing any tax-related tasks during this time. During the presentation of the interim budget on Thursday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasised the government’s efforts to enhance taxpayer services. He emphasised the modifications being made to the previous system in order to increase accountability and transparency.

Form 26AS Adoption

According to the Finance Minister, steps including the adoption of Form 26AS, updated income tax returns, and early tax return filing have greatly streamlined the tax return filing process, with an average processing time of 93 days in 2013–14. This year, it has been cut down to just ten days. The Finance Minister promised that these changes speed up the return processing process, which is good for taxpayers.
