Indo-China border crisis: Nobody could dare to take even an inch of land when Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officers patrolled the Indo-China border, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday.
He was speaking after laying the groundwork for the Central Detective Training Institute and formally launching the ITBP’s residential and administrative facilities at Devanahalli, near Bengaluru.
He stated, “Among the central armed police forces, the ITBP works in the most treacherous terrain in the country. We cannot even imagine… Protecting the borders of our nation at -42 degrees Celsius is possible only due to the great determination and patriotism of the soldiers.”
“We are not even somewhat concerned” when such soldiers defend the Indo-China border, he said.
“When ITBP men are on patrol, no one dares to occupy even an inch of land.”
ITBP members are known as ‘himveer’ by the people in Arunachal Pradesh, Kashmir, and Ladakh because of their bravery, according to Shah.
“I believe such a title is a higher award than the Padma Bhushan or Padma Vibhushan,” he added, adding that the honour was bestowed by the people rather than the government.

100-day leave for personnel serving at the border
By changing the service roster, Shah declared 100-day leave for personnel serving at the border. During the holidays, staff can either stay with their families or stay at the office. He said, “Before we go to the next (Lok Sabha) elections, we will make sure of it.”
According to the home minister, continuous research is required for efficient policing. He said, “Society has a tendency to change. In 25-50 years, (society’s) thinking, form, goals and destination change. When police fail to identify such changes, they become irrelevant. Continuous research is necessary to keep track of these changes.”
