Inspirational Stories: She turned out to be an academic prodigy who finished school before the time most kids finish primary school, despite the fact that her daily wage labour father did not graduate school. Sushma Verma was finishing her MSc in microbiology when other kids her age were taking board exams.

Sushma Verma’s Early Academic Excellence

Verma, a native of Lucknow, graduated as a microbiologist at the age of 15. Although her time at school was brief, she received many awards. When other children were only starting official study at age 7, she had already finished high school. She earned her intermediate diploma at age 10, and her BSc at age 13. She subsequently went on to study environmental microbiology for her PhD. Father of Sushma Verma was a daily wage labourer. Her mother was never given the opportunity to go to school and became illiterate. The kids learned the value of early education as a result of this. Her brother was likewise a prodigy who graduated from high school at the age of nine.

Sushma Verma’s Early Academic Excellence

Sushma was reciting Ramayana “chaupayis” in front of a large crowd at the age of barely 2.5. She enrolled right in the ninth grade at age 5. After battling to obtain permission to take the board test, she eventually passed it at age 7 and set the record for the youngest matriculate in the world, making it into the Limca Book of World Records. She earned her BSc in science from Lucknow University before enrolling in the MSc programme at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) in Lucknow. She wanted to help people by becoming a doctor. She took the combined pre-medical test (CPMT) at the age of barely 10, but the age restriction prevented the release of her results.

Sushma Verma’s Prestigious Recognition

During the fourth year of her studies at the BBAU, Sushma, then 19 years old, was chosen for the National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes (NFOBC). Sushma received a medal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the university convocation for her master’s work, for which she was the best student.
