Inspirational Stories: Many people have the dream of working as a public servant in the IAS, IPS, or IFS. Every year, thousands of UPSC candidates apply for the civil services exam, but only a small number of them succeed. However, there are numerous instances of IAS and IPS officers quitting their illustrious positions to start their own firms, businesses, etc. One such person is Rajan Singh, a former IPS officer who, after eight years of service, decided to pursue other interests.
From UPSC Success to Business Pursuits
Former Kerala IPS officer of the 1997 batch, Rajan Singh. Singh began preparing for the UPSC after earning his engineering degree from Kanpur IIT in 1995. He passed the test and joined the Indian Police Service (IPS). Singh, who is from Uttar Pradesh, was named the police commissioner in Thiruvananthapuram after serving in the field for just six months. Tinku Biswal, the wife of Singh, is an IAS officer from the Kerala cadre. Singh opted to leave the military in 2005 after eight years of service in order to pursue a business degree at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Later, he spent two years in New York working for the multinational management company Mckinsey and Company.
Rajan Singh’s Entrepreneurial Ventures in Online Learning
He established Course Brew in 2012, an avant-garde online learning platform offering engaging video-based instruction. In 2015, he launched ConceptOwl, his subsequent business. It concentrated on maths and scientific education initiatives for pupils in rural towns. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 served as Rajan Singh’s inspiration for developing the habit-based learning platform Habit Strong. The platform now includes ConceptOwl, and future success is expected to be even higher.
