From Academic Struggles to Civil Services Success
Manoj was born in the Morena city of Madhya Pradesh . He was born into a lower middle class family, where they had to work hard just to get by. He has a sister and a brother, and his father is Ramveer Sharma. Since he was a young child, Manoj had always dreamed of becoming an SDM because that is what he knew administrative officers to be. However, in classes 9 and 10, he received third division. He realised as a result that he wasn’t a particularly strong student. The worst came for Manoj when he failed the class 12th Board exams in every subject but Hindi. The worst-case situation a UPSC Civil Services candidate may experience was this.
From Auto-Rickshaw Driver to Civil Services Aspirant
Manoj then collected himself and started working as an auto-rickshaw driver in Gwalior. He did well in his 12th-grade studies throughout this time. He had not given up on his dream of passing the Civil Services Exam one day. At the Maharani LaxmiBai Government College of Excellence in Gwalior, Manoj Kumar Sharma earned his diploma. He details numerous experiences from his life as an autorickshaw driver in his book Twelfth Fail. Manoj was under a lot of pressure to provide for his family. Even the roof of their home was missing. It is difficult to understand how someone could have dreamed of becoming an administrative officer under such circumstances. He slept with beggars, in temples, and walked dogs for folks during his training days to make ends meet.
