The Global Sikh Council (GSC), a global confederation of 31 national-level Sikh organizations, held its 11th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in London, UK. During the election proceedings, Lady Singh Kanwaljit Kaur was unanimously re-elected to serve a two-year term as president, highlighting her continued commitment and leadership within the organization.
Dr. Karminder Singh Dhillon of Indonesia was nominated as presiding officer to conduct the election process. In the meeting Harjeet Singh Grewal elected as secretary and Harsaran Singh as treasurer. Additionally, Paramjit Singh Bedi from USA and Ram Singh Rathore from India were elected as deputy presidents.
The GSC also chosen its executive committee, appointing prominent leaders from diverse regions: Jagir Singh from Malaysia, Satnam Singh Poonia from UK, Gurdial Singh from France, Kirandeep Kaur Sandhu from Nepal and Harbir Pal Singh Bhatia from Australia. Lord Indarjit Singh will continue to serve as chairman of the advisory board, lending his expertise and guidance to the organization.
Reflecting the Council’s commitment to fostering a united global Sikh identity, the AGM has resolved to expand GSC’s outreach into 30 additional countries over the next years, amplifying its impact and support for Sikh communities worldwide.
*Mentionably, the GSC was constituted in the year 2014 during its first AGM held at Australia to establish a coalition of national Sikh organisations from across the globe with an aim to promote, propagate and strengthen values and policies consistent with teachings contained in the Guru Granth Sahib and the ‘Panth Parvanit Sikh Rehat Maryada’ (Sikhs’ code of conduct) of 1945.
