Mahakumbh: In a historic development, a new Hindu Code of Conduct has been meticulously crafted after 351 years of extensive study and collaboration by the Kashi Vidvat Parishad and a team of scholars nationwide. This monumental document is set to be unveiled during the upcoming Kumbh Mela in 2025, marking a significant milestone in unifying the nation under a common set of principles rooted in Sanatan Dharma.
The Journey of Creation
The responsibility of formulating the new Hindu Code of Conduct was entrusted to the Kashi Vidvat Parishad, which assembled a team of 70 scholars. Divided into 11 main teams and three sub-teams, these scholars drew inspiration from ancient texts like Manu Smriti, Parashar Smriti, and Deval Smriti. Over 40 meetings were held to distill the essence of these scriptures into a contemporary code that reflects the values of the modern era.
Simplifying the Sacred
One of the key highlights of the new Code of Conduct is the simplification of the sixteen sacraments, placing a particular emphasis on the minimum number of attendees required for post-funeral rites, which has been set at 16. The code also stresses the importance of adhering to rules related to impurity.
A Glimpse into Tradition
The Hindu Code of Conduct not only draws from revered texts like the Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Puranas but also upholds traditional practices. The sixteen sacraments, rooted in ancient wisdom, are adapted for a contemporary understanding, making them accessible and relevant to people of all ages.
Reviving Smritis
The creation of Smritis, or sacred texts, has followed a historical timeline. Manu Smriti was the first, followed by Parashar and then Deval Smriti. However, for the past 351 years, no new Smritis had been created until this groundbreaking initiative.
Distribution at Kumbh Mela
In a significant move, one lakh copies of the Hindu Code of Conduct will be printed for distribution during the Kumbh Mela. This marks the first time that such a large-scale dissemination is planned, signifying the importance and relevance of this document for the entire nation.
Promoting Equality
The new Code of Conduct promotes equal rights for men and women in temples, encouraging both genders to actively participate in worship rituals. Women are granted permission to study the Vedas and perform Yajnas, marking a progressive step towards gender inclusivity.
