Mahindra XUV700 Electric SUV: Mahindra has always aspired to be a major player in the electric SUV market. We’ve seen numerous teasers, and finally, on India’s 75th Independence Day, Mahindra unveiled five electric SUVs at an event in Oxfordshire, England. However, Mahindra only teased three Born Electric SUVs and displayed five.
Mahindra now has two EV product lines
One is the BE (Born Electric) range of electric SUVs, and the other is still known as the XUV. In this light, three Born Electric SUVs stand out as the BE range is currently showcased with three products: BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09. XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 are the other two in the electric XUV range. Because it is based on the XUV700, the XUV.e8 is the more production ready of the two.
Electric SUV Mahindra XUV700 Walkaround
Mahindra’s XUV.e8 is based on the new INGLO platform, which promises battery packs ranging from 60 to 80 kWh. These battery packs are constructed from LFP cells sourced by Volkswagen. The rest of the battery systems, such as BMS, are likely to be designed in-house.
Mahindra XUV700 Electric SUV Walkaround Mahindra has based its XUV.e8 on the new INGLO platform promising 60 kWh to 80 kWh battery packs. These battery packs are made of LFP cells that are sourced by Volkswagen. While the rest of battery systems like BMS, are likely to be designed in-house.
The top hat is almost identical to ICE-powered XUV700 that is currently sold in India. Even though XUV.e8 gets the same profile with slightly sharper wheel arches, front and rear are different. Also, the whole car seems to be wrapped in a matte black wrap with copper-coloured textures all around. It is unlikely to be carried over to production model.

The XUV700’s front end has been completely transformed into a futuristic MPV-esque SUV. It gets a massive LED DRL that spans not only the width but also almost the entire height of the SUV at its extreme ends. Headlights are now very sleek, with copper accents.
Interior Design and Publication: The interiors of the Mahindra XUV700 were already futuristic and technologically advanced. However, XUV.e8 takes it to a whole new level. The XUV700 has two horizontal screens, whereas the XUV.e8 has three. One is for the driver’s display, and the other is for the central infotainment system.
Because it was only a prototype, the interior finishes were camouflaged. We wish Mahindra included soft-touch plastics with the XUV.e8, as it would make for a much more comfortable cabin. The majority of the XUV700’s features, such as the panoramic sunroof, seating layout, dash layout, and door trims, are likely to remain. The launch date is expected to be around 2024.
Anand Mahindra, Chairman of M&M, promised that the production versions of all the concepts shown yesterday, including the BE and XUV.e products, would be the same. He assured us that what we saw was exactly what we would get. He also revealed that three of the five shown yesterday are already in advanced development, and the other two will be put into action soon.
