Microsoft Outage: A number of industries have been impacted by the recent global Microsoft outage, but the airline industry has been particularly hard hit. Passengers on airlines have had severe difficulties as a result of the disruption, which has affected customer service, check-ins, and ticket sales.

Disruption in Ticket Booking and Check-In

Bookings for tickets have been halted among other widespread problems with airline systems brought on by the Microsoft outage. One of the biggest airlines in India, IndiGo, has advised customers not to make multiple booking attempts during this time. They stated, “As systems are impacted globally due to ongoing issues with Microsoft Azure, we kindly request you to refrain from making multiple booking attempts during this time. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the issue and appreciate your patience.”

Online check-in services are also experiencing problems, leaving many passengers struggling to complete their check-ins. SpiceJet has announced, “We are currently experiencing technical challenges with our service provider, affecting online services including booking, check-in, and manage booking functionalities. As a result, we have activated manual check-in and boarding processes across airports. We kindly request passengers with upcoming travel plans to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to complete check-in at our counters. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that our teams are diligently working with our service provider to resolve these issues promptly. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.”

Increased Pressure on Customer Service

The outage has also led to a surge in inquiries at airline contact centers. IndiGo has highlighted that their contact center is facing high volumes due to the system issues, advising, “As our systems are impacted by an ongoing issue with Microsoft Azure, we are experiencing high volumes at the contact center. Please contact us only if your travel is within 24 hours.”

Long Queues and Delays

Long lines of passengers are forming at airport counters as a result of the manual check-in procedure. For those who are already affected by the outage, this has resulted in delays and increased tension.
