Mohini Ekadashi is a very special occasion for the devotees of Baba Shyam. On this day, Baba Shyam is adorned with captivating multi-colored flowers. It is considered auspicious to have a glimpse of Baba Shyam on Mohini Ekadashi. Devotees from all over India come to Khatu Shyam Ji and offer water, gulkand juice, rabri and chhachh.
The Significance of Mohini Ekadashi
Every month, on the eleventh day (Gyaras), a two-day fair is organized in Baba Shyam’s court. Lakhs of devotees bow their heads during this fair. This time, due to Mohini Ekadashi, the significance of this fair has increased even more. On this day, devotees come to serve other devotees of Khatu Shyam Ji, making it a unique occasion.
Baba Shyam’s Divine Adornment
Baba Shyam is dressed up with vibrant flowers from all around the nation on Mohini Ekadashi. Blue, yellow, white, red, pink, green, and saffron are the colours of the blossoms. This beautiful decoration adds a really particular touch to the day. Numerous preparations have been undertaken by the Shri Shyam Temple Committee for the vast number of devotees.
How to Perform Rituals at Home on Mohini Ekadashi
On Mohini Ekadashi, place the idols of Lord Vishnu and Baba Shyam in the prayer room after taking a morning bath. Apply a yellow sandalwood tilak, outfit them in yellow, and perform their abhishek (holy washing rite). Make a promise for the fast of Ekadashi. Do the aarti after 108 repetitions of the mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya”.
Steps to Follow:
- Morning Bath: To start, give yourself a good cleansing bath.
- Prepare the Prayer room: Clean and arrange the idols of Lord Vishnu and Baba Shyam in the prayer room.
- Abhishek Ritual: Give the idols the ceremonial washing.
- Dress the Idols: Put on yellow clothing for the idols.
- Apply Tilak: Cover the idols with a yellow sandalwood tilak.
- Make a pledge in observance of the Ekadashi fast.
- Repeat “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” 108 times to recite the mantra.
- Do Aarti: Finish with the traditional aarti ceremony.
