The Archies have evolved greatly from the comic books we read as children. At a special screening of the film The Archies, Shah Rukh Khan wore an Archies t-shirt—a dream come true for any merchandiser out there!—because his daughter Suhana Khan plays Veronica Lodge in the Ryan Brophy and Zoya Akhtar-directed picture. Netflix releases the movie on December 7, 2023.
For what purposes are savings worthwhile?
Anglo Indians make up the majority of the population in Riverdale (a deft move to keep character names original and set the story in India). Additionally, this small town has a custom. The family names a tree in his honour when their children turn five. The trees are situated in the town’s picturesque centre, in the Green Park.
You say it’s a lovely tradition? You’re correct. Planting as many trees as possible is imperative. However, what financial lesson does this tradition teach you? An encouragement to start saving for your children. Do you recall having clay “gullaks” or piggy banks when you were younger? For your savings to increase along with your children’s savings, you can open an account for them. Actually, you can invest for the long term and receive returns that you can use to pay for their further education. Your kids can gain from it too, just as the trees are valuable to preserve.
Why do all of you have part-time jobs?
Rich brat Veronica Lodge is perplexed when Betty informs her that all of her friends work part-time jobs. Why would her pals require employment? Ethel works her magic at Pam’s salon, Betty works at her dad’s bookshop, Reggie pitches ideas for columns at his father Ricky Mantle’s Gazette, and Jughead (well done, Mihir Ahuja) bus tables at Pop Tates. Archie (Agastya Nanda) is a tour guide for his father’s travel agency. Luke Kenny’s portrayal of a newspaper editor and publisher was well received. Even better is watching Reggie uncover an issue that no one was expecting, making him appear to be the true hero of the movie (more on him later). In fact, his father says, ‘Bring me facts, boy, not conspiracies.’ It is imperative that today’s youth learn how to work for a living, regardless of their career path. People learn the value of money through part-time jobs. Surely a lesson worth learning?
Ambition is beneficial and growing up includes making mistakes
Dot portrays Ethel, a talented hairstylist. Pam (Delnaaz Irani in a small but lovely role) claims that Ethel is her salon’s greatest asset, and everyone in Riverdale is aware of this. However, it is only natural that Ethel is drawn to the prospect of working for more money at a fancier salon when a brand-new salon with glitzy, shiny gadgets opens up across the street. Pam is sorry to lose her most valuable asset, but she is happy to have Ethel back after a bad encounter with the new “Cuts and Curls” salon management.
Though the new salon may seem glamorous, Ethel understands that the proprietress doesn’t give a damn about the locals. Money is the only thing that matters. Many investors are drawn to new and exciting financial instruments, such as Bitcoin-like payment networks, even though they don’t always deliver on their promises. As a result, they abandon tried-and-true strategies in favour of quicker money accumulation. Like Ethel, most of us don’t get second chances. Thus exercise caution and adhere to the tried-and-true, considerate methods.
There will always be change, To what extent are you prepared?
Large developers, such as Mr. Lodge and his cronies, are working together with the bought-off council members to seize all the stores in order to construct Lodge Plaza. They even plan to tear down the central Green Park to create room for a large hotel. More tourists and a better quality of life are promised.
When you invest, you are also inundated with glossy brochures that make your own life appear inferior in comparison and promise higher returns. You have to ascertain why you are being aggressively pushed towards certain schemes but not others. You must determine whether altering your investing strategy will benefit you in the long run or merely fade away. In order to reassure Betty that she shouldn’t be concerned about losing his bookstore and caving in to gentrification, Betty’s father quotes William Faulkner, saying, “You cannot swim for new horizons until you have the courage to lose sight of the shores.”
It’s an optimistic outlook on the life of an investor. However, not everyone has the courage to abandon ship and try something unknown. Be cautious when investing or you risk drowning. However, if you have conducted a sufficient risk assessment, then go ahead and make the move.
Every character has strengths and flaws
“What is ‘oblivious’?” Moose asks. Ethel is aware that she owes Pam an apology. Even though Betty adores Archie, she has greater faith in her friendship with Veronica. Despite being a little wealthy girl, Veronica has the guts to ask her father and accept the harsh reality that she must sell her designer clothes in order to preserve Green Park. As the plot develops, Reggie shines because he understands the power of his words. He is the movie’s most well-written character. He also demonstrates his writing sensitivity by revealing to us that he has watched Dilton and that he will keep the information private. Jughead isn’t hesitant to reveal the home truths of Archie: You only need a brain; you don’t need two hearts—Archie has admitted that he wants two because he loves both Veronica and Betty.
You cannot be an investor like Moose and ignore what is going on around you. Veronica must also come to terms with the realities of her father’s company. Become a knowledgeable investor. Ethel will remind us to keep our hopes in check. Reggie is the model for everyone else. informed, inquisitive, and perceptive. The film’s song, “Everything is Political,” serves as a sobering reminder to all of us. Not only do we need to know about financial instruments, but we also need to know how the government feels about your investment life. Are there laws and regulations that encourage investing, or will you pay a high tax burden because the government runs on a different schedule than you? It’s wise advice from Jughead to acquire a brain!
Your lunchbox contains both good and bad things
On Christmas morning, Betty and Veronica reunite. We also see that, despite the boys’ misinterpretation of her, Betty still believes that she and Veronica are friends. Indeed, to this we have added the most adorable, superb, and convincing party scene in which everyone joins in a sing-along at the 25th wedding anniversary of Archie’s parents. We learn an important lesson about money from the song ‘O Lily, if life were plum pudding, you’d be sugar and spice/O Micheal, if life were plum pudding, you’d be the sweetest surprise!’
Betty is telling us that because the markets are volatile, we must accept both the good and the bad when making investments. Furthermore, since you’re in it for the long haul, there’s no need to freak out. Furthermore, if we anticipate that investing will be as easy as plum pudding, we are frequently in for a sweet surprise—and occasionally we have to deal with spice!
